Sister Beat, a six-member, all-women band, has been together a very short time. Originally formed as a three-piece ensemble, consisting of guitarist Mary Emelio, drummer Jody Echterling, and vocalist Cathy Nelson, to play for a fund raising concert in January of 2008 under the name Wing It, the band grew to four members that night. Bassist Amy Shestack sat in as the band played late into the evening. By the next rehearsal, Wing It had grown to six members, with the addition of guitarist Becky Mohr and bassist Vickie Poole, and changed its name to Sister Beat. Jamming on rock, blues, and original tunes, Sister Beat presents its love of all things music in a unique, funky and upbeat style.
